The Halloween Tree

The Halloween Tree

A Halloween tablecloth cut to fit my tree

I've had the tree up a couple weeks but hadn't gotten around to posting pictures of it...so here it IS!  The Halloween Tree.  I've seen a couple friends on Facebook post pictures of theirs too.  I love looking at everyone else's trees.  So glad it's catching on.

I've had a few people along the way ask about starting a seasonal tree.  If you are thinking about it now would be a great time to start shopping.  Walmart, Target, Michaels, Hobby Lobby all have ornaments out and at a discount.  Shop the sales and use store coupons.

For me when I think about a certain holiday I also usually think of a certain color...like for Christmas I think or green and red.  So if you start with just colors you can't go wrong.

And you can always buy plain ornamental balls and dress them up.

Here is an idea I found on Pinterest....cute right?

And something I found while checking out Pinterest....which would cost less than $ 1...Joyzz.com

Idea found here.

You get the idea.  At least enough to get started.  If you do one send me some pictures!  Like I said I love to see them.

In other news...this weekend is the Petersburg Half Marathon.  I've trained every week for a couple months so we will see if it pays off or not.  We are also hosting a Halloween party this weekend....after the race.  I've made no plans Sunday since I have no idea what condition my body will be in.  I'll fill you in next week on how it goes.  Happy weekend to you until then.

The Halloween Tree

One of my very favorite times of the year is here!!!!  The weather starts to chill, the leaves begin to fall, the ghouls come out at night....o.k. I could do without the ghouls :-)

An Attitude of Gratitude Day 2

In keeping with a theme of thankfulness leading up to Thanksgiving and with an Attitude of Gratitude I bring you...

Day #2....Today I'm grateful for my left over Halloween Candy!!!!

I'm a bit of a chocolate lover and boy does it hit the spot when I'm in need of a good fix!  It's the perfect size to just stash a piece or two in my pocket and then munch on when the urge hits.  This year I bought 4 bags of candy and I was generous to each person that stopped by so there isn't too much of left.  Speaking of trick-or-treaters we had 20 this year (more than ever) and a couple even wanted to have their pictures taken in front of the house.  I was thrilled of course!

Before dark

Closer to dark

Maybe next year we'll even get a fog machine :)  I am a kid at heart and love Halloween.  And for today I'm a chocolate loving nurse that has to get my booty to work.  Take care until tomorrow.

Halloween...Here we come!

There is a lot that goes on at our house in order to get ready for Halloween...but we're ready!  Well there are a few final touches but we always have to take care of those right before our little guests arrive!  Hurricane Sandy did set us back a little.  But we should be able to get the outdoor stuff back outside tonight.  I'm excited.  How about you?

The Tree has a New Skirt

With the changing of the seasons and the new Halloween Tree I felt like I needed to change up the tree skirt.  I took the idea I used back at Easter time (info here) and made a special skirt dedicated to Halloween.  Take a vinyl tablecloth in the color/design you like, use old tree skirt as a pattern and make your cuts.  Voila! Place your new tree skirt around the tree....super easy!

Around the tree.....that easy.

It looks a little distorded here but I pulled it out
to show off the skirt.

Happy Halloween decorating folks :)

The Halloween Tree

Halloween is one of my favorite times of the year!  And it's my favorite (next to Christmas) to decorate for.  The container for all my Halloween decor is twice as big as my other decoration containers if that tells you anything. I couldn't wait to get my Halloween Tree up!

We have witches

Mini Pumpkins

These funny little guys

Some more witches

The Halloween Tree

Along with the witches and pumpkins I have lots of green and purple balls.  There is also orange and purple filler on there from Michael's (you can see it poking out of the tree in some of the pictures).  I do plan on changing out the tree skirt but have to decide on what I'll replace it with.  Looks like it's time for another craft!

If your in the market to start a seasonal tree, now is a great time.  Some stores are starting to put out their Christmas Tree decorations.  I like to always go in and look but not necessarily of Christmas.  I know this year I want some yellow balls for spring, some brown balls for a Father's Day tree I have in mind, a few more "Teacher" ornaments, maybe a few more Halloween decorations wouldn't hurt either :)  But at least starting now you can wait for sales or use those precious Michael's coupons!  Maybe by the weekend I'll come up wih something for the tree skirt.

Halloween 2011

I hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!  At our house it was Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf!  Actually the Big Bad Wolf was not to Emma's liking so the mask was off most of the time.

She just wouldn't hold still!

We don't have a ton of trick-or-treaters and last nights weather didn't help much.  But those that did show up were in for a treat!

The Haunted Bryants House!

The graveyard

I was so scared!!!

Did anyone else have some trick or treat fun?  Leave me a comment and tell me all about it!
